System Administrator

The successful candidate is going to work in a security company and will be responsible for installing, managing, securing, and maintaining security IT systems, ensuring continuous operation, data integrity, and effective response to security incidents.

Roles

1. System Installation & Configuration

  • Configure servers, workstations, and network devices.
  • Set up CCTV systems, NVRs/DVRs, access control servers, alarm panels.
  • Configure software platforms (e.g. VMS, access control software).
  • Assign IP addresses, ports, VLANs, and user roles.

 

2. Network & Infrastructure Management

  • Manage LAN/WAN used by cameras, access control, and monitoring systems.
  • Configure switches, routers, firewalls, and PoE infrastructure.
  • Monitor bandwidth usage and latency.
  • Ensure system redundancy and uptime.

3. User & Access Management

  • Create and manage user accounts.
  • Assign permissions (view-only, admin, audit, operator).
  • Enforce least-privilege access.
  • Revoke access immediately for exited staff or contractors.

4. System Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor system health (servers, storage, cameras, controllers).
  • Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance.
  • Update firmware and software patches.
  • Replace or reconfigure faulty components.

5. Cybersecurity & Data Protection

  • Secure systems against hacking and malware.
  • Implement password policies, encryption, and firewall rules.
  • Manage backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure secure remote access (VPNs).

6. Incident Response & Troubleshooting

  • Respond to system failures, alarms, and security breaches.
  • Investigate logs and system alerts.
  • Restore systems after outages or cyber incidents.
  • Support investigations with system data.

7. Integration & System Expansion

  • Integrate CCTV with access control, alarms, and analytics.
  • Support upgrades and scaling (new branches, more cameras).
  • Test interoperability between different security technologies.

8. Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure systems meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain logs for audits and investigations.
  • Support internal and external security audits.
  • Implement data retention and privacy policies.

9. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain system diagrams and configurations.
  • Document procedures and change logs.
  • Produce uptime, incident, and performance reports.
  • Provide evidence for legal or disciplinary processes.

10. Training & Technical Support

  • Train operators and guards on system use.
  • Provide technical support to clients or internal teams.
  • Advise management on system improvements.
